Deep Down Below (2017)
The artist duo Trollkrem consists of Tor Erik Bøe and Jennie Hagevik Bringaker. Their artistic practice spans from performance, sound, installation and publications, often engaged with gender issues. Every production is of collaborative nature and involves artists, designers and other skilled professionals in a joint effort to realize the vision of the work. In Deep Down Below they explore the ocean as an enclosed universe representing the future with its unknown, unexplored deep waters that house the most mind-blowing variety of life forms, many still to be discovered. Deep Down Below is a piece that is equally about creating a new, visual universe as it is a reflection of the human relationship with the ocean as a parallel universe, the surface of the sea being a black mirror, a portal to the other side. Did you know more humans have been in outer space than in the dark depths of the ocean?
