No Maps for These Territories (2012)

Vetterstad’s practice includes multiple mediums such as installation, video, sound, performance, photography, sculpture, and film. Existential themes regarding death and madness, questions relating to identity and alienating processes, and the boundaries and conflicts that define the relation between human and nature are central to her work. In the video-piece No Maps for These Territories, a conversation unfolds between two persons that seem to be separated by a dark, uninhabited universe of stars, planets and endless empty space. Where does the self end and the world begin? The work alludes to a collapse between inner and outer space in a world where the self embodies, all and nothing, is bound to live in infinite solitude.
